DECARBONISING HEATING NETWORKS

A MAJOR CHALLENGE

Today, around 70% of heating and hot water is produced using fossil fuels. Calogena aims to decarbonise district heating networks to which more than 70 million Europeans are connected.

In Europe, heating networks are supplied by burning gas, fuel oil, coal, wood, or waste 95% of the time. Calogena offers a combustion-free solution, with no carbon emissions or fine particles, tailored to all local constraints.

THE CALOGENA SOLUTION

SAFETY, SIMPLICITY AND ROBUSTNESS

Calogena is developing a small-scale Small Modular Reactor (SMR) water-based nuclear boiler using technologies that have been in use for several decades.

The low-pressure, low-temperature operation, the direct use of heat and the very limited number of auxiliary systems make the concept intrinsically simpler and safer than any reactor currently in operation or planned.

Specially designed for district heating, Calogena will provide a secure, stable and carbon-free source of heat for local authorities looking to build the city of tomorrow.

SUBSIDIARY OF AN INDUSTRIAL GROUP

THE AGILITY OF AN SMALL-CAP AND THE SOLIDITY OF THE GORGE GROUP

Calogena benefits from the dual expertise of the GORGÉ industrial group, which specialises in high-tech businesses, and the team of twelve nuclear experts which founded the project. They bring their technical knowledge and experience in the main French and international reactor development projects.

The Calogena project brings together the best experience and know-how of the French nuclear industry with the dynamism and financial and industrial strength of an innovative family business.
